Teacher My name is Sandra Nitchie and I have been an artist from childhood. I followed my passion for artistic creation completing a BFA program at the prestigious Maryland Institute, College of Art in Baltimore, Maryland. This art degree landed me employment as lead graphic designer of the National Marine Sanctuary Program, under the Federal umbrella of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. After 15 years enjoying a satisfying career I began to ask a bigger question: “Is this all that I was meant to do in life?” My answer came swiftly in a calling to explore more artistic options. The “more” came after a recent visit to Mexico which connected my love of art with the mystical culture of Mexico. Following my heart, I moved to Mexico and began my new career as a painting teacher and gallery owner. For the next 7 years I taught 100s of students to paint, some of them never having touched a paint brush. Once again, I started asking the question, “Is this all that is meant for my life?” Quickly an answer came and I found myself learning the ancient customs of native Mexico. Attending several retreats, I began the journey of practicing these traditions. SoulPainting is the fusion of these ancient traditions designed to open our consciousness and self awareness with the art of painting. My intention now is to teach and share this powerful healing art with the world. |
